XM to Carry NHL Games on XM Channels 204 Through 209


WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- XM Satellite Radio, the nation'sleading provider of satellite radio, will begin broadcasting National HockeyLeague (NHL) games on October 5, the opening day of the NHL's 2005-2006season.

Live play-by-play coverage of NHL games will be carried on XM channels 204through 209. Later this fall, XM will introduce a dedicated NHL radio channelfeaturing original programming that will focus on all aspects of the sport.NHL games and the NHL channel will be available to all XM subscribers for noadditional charge.

Under its recent ten-year agreement with the NHL, XM will become theexclusive satellite radio network of the NHL beginning with the 2007-2008season.

NHL games and XM's NHL channel will be available in Canada in the comingmonths through XM's partner Canadian Satellite Radio (CSR), which is funding aportion of the agreement. CSR has been awarded a license to distributesatellite radio in Canada, as recently approved by the Federal Cabinet. "The National Hockey League is back, and fans can listen to NHL games inthe car, at home, or on the go with XM Satellite Radio," said Eric Logan,executive vice president, XM Satellite Radio.

"XM has millions of listenersacross the United States, and we're about to expand into Canada, so the timingof this agreement with the NHL couldn't be better."

The NHL is the latest addition to the wide variety of sports programmingon XM Satellite Radio. XM is the official satellite radio network of MajorLeague Baseball, NASCAR, IndyCar Series, the PGA TOUR, World Cup Soccer, andthe college sports conference ACC, Big Ten, and Pac-10. XM carries livesports and sports talk on ESPN Radio, as well as sports talk radio channelsMLB Home Plate, ESPNews Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and Sporting News Radio, plus"The Tony Kornheiser Show" on the Extreme XM channel.
