Coach K Joins XM Satellite Radio to Host Exclusive XM Show

Legendary Duke Head Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski to Host 'Basketball and Beyond with Coach K,' Available Only on XM, the Official Satellite Radio Network of the ACC

WASHINGTON and DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- XM Satellite Radio,the nation's leading satellite radio company with more than 5 millionsubscribers, today announced that Duke Head Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski,one of the most successful and influential figures in sports, will host hisown XM Satellite Radio program.

"Basketball and Beyond with Coach K" will offer a mix of topical issues,such as the state of college basketball; interviews with special guests,including business leaders, entertainers, and athletes; and Krzyzewski'spersonal perspective on principles for life on and off the court.

Coach K and his co-host, sportscaster Dave Sims, will launch the XM Radioprogram on October 12. The hour-long program will air Wednesdays at 4:00 pmET on XM's college sports channels 191 through 199, with encore broadcasts onvarious channels during the week. Krzyzewski has one of the top coaching resumes of all-time. In 30 years asa head coach, Coach K has compiled a 721-246 record, led Duke to three NCAAChampionships (1991, 1992 and 2001), guided the Blue Devils to 10 Final Fourappearances in the past 20 seasons, developed 21 All-Americas and mentoredseven National Players of the Year. The Blue Devils, who have been ranked No.1 in 12 different seasons, have won nine Atlantic Coast Conference titles,including six of the past seven. Krzyzewski was inducted in the NaismithBasketball Hall of Fame on October 5, 2001. Additionally, he has co-writtenthree books, including "Leading with the Heart," which reached the New YorkTimes best-seller list in 2000.

Sims, the show's co-host and two-time Emmy Award winner, is a veteranbroadcaster with experience hosting talk shows, calling play-by-play for radioand television, and anchoring/reporting the sports news. Sims continues tohandle weekly NFL play-by-play and men's NCAA Tournament play-by-play dutiesfor Westwood One/CBS Radio. He has been calling college basketball games forESPN and ESPN Regional since 1991. One of Sims' off-camera professionalpursuits is AthletiSense, a communication and media relations life skillsprogram that he established with his wife, Abby. The couple works withDivision I college athletes, including those at Duke, as well as professionalsthroughout the United States, presenting group seminars and providingindividualized communications training.

In addition to Mike Krzyzewski's upcoming program, XM carries live play-by-play coverage of Duke basketball games throughout the season. As theofficial satellite radio network of the ACC, XM broadcasts ACC men's andwomen's basketball games and ACC football games from coast to coast.

"Basketball and Beyond with Coach K" is the latest addition to the widevariety of sports programming on XM Satellite Radio.
